Honor Awards 2008

March 17-April 24, 2008

Multi-media curated exhibit featuring recent works by 10 artists who received Awards of Excellence during Art Saint Louis' 2007 juried exhibition season. Curated by St. Louis artist James M. Smith.

Featured artists: Bradley E. Bauer, Sharon Bean, Jason Hoeing, David Lancaster, Shelley Muellhaupt, Libby Reuter, Cherie Sampson, Jo Stealey, Justin Visnesky, Bill Yates.

GRAPE ARTS 2008

Grape Arts is Art Saint Louis’ Signature Fund Raiser, presented annually for 16 years in early spring. It’s an exciting afternoon of wine tastings with silent and live auctions of fine art and donations from the community, accompanied by music and appetizers. The event raises funds for Art Saint Louis, its community programs and exhibits.

Cool Art Hot Jazz August Festival

 

The Greater St. Louis Art Association proudly presents the 2008 Cool Art/Hot Jazz Fine Art Festival (formerly the St. Louis Fall Festival of Art). We are pleased to announce that the 2nd Annual Illinois Wine & Music Festival will be held at Hidden Lake Winery, August 23rd and 24th.  The festival provides an opportunity to sample wines from wineries across the state.

You will be able to enjoy food from the area's finest restaurants.  Local musical talent will perform live each day and area artisans will be displaying and selling their creations.

Schlafly Bottleworks

Established in 2004, Schlafly's Art Outside is an alternative juried and invitational art fair dedicated to showcasing local art in an approachable venue and manner. Approximately 10,000 visitors took part in last year’s event. The fair's mission is to increase public knowledge and appreciation for the local art scene by creating opportunities that connect artists, musicians, performers, and the community. Zona Rosa Arts Festival

Working in conjunction with the Platte County Arts Council, Zona Rosa's annual arts festival features the talents of qualifying artists from across the country. The three-day free public festival showcases a variety of artwork including: Drawing (pencil, ink, pastel), Mixed Media(2D and 3D),Painting(oils,acrylics,watercolor),Printmaking, Sculpture, Jewelry, Photography, Wood Turning, Fibers, Pottery, and Glass.

The Columbia Festival of the Arts is an annual celebration of visual, performing and literary arts. The festival fosters an awareness and appreciation of art and culture by providing participatory art experiences for all. This weekend-long celebration of the arts began in 1992 and is the signature event of the City of Columbia Office of Cultural Affairs. An estimated 10,000 people attend the free two-day celebration annually.

The Festival is held on the last full weekend in September on Courthouse Square and the surrounding streets in downtown Columbia. For more information contact the city’s Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA), 573-874-6386.

 

16th Annual Historic Shaw Art Fair

Admission is $5.00

Children 14 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.
Proceeds benefit the activities of the Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association.

135 artists from around the country who work in a large variety of media and styles.

Located on the tree-lined parkway of beautiful Flora Place at Tower Grove Avenue, the Historic Shaw Art Fair is one of the premier fine art and fine craft fairs in the St. Louis area. It is highly rated by art fair magazines and participating artists.

The food court and a variety of music help make your visit a relaxed and pleasant one. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Disabled parking and accessible entry ramp provided. Parking is available on neighborhood streets and in Tower Grove Park. The Missouri Botanical Garden’s Best Of Missouri Market is held on the same weekend directly across Tower Grove Avenue.

A Celebration of the Visual and Performing  Arts

This annual festival is one of the Mid South's longest running fine arts festivals.  RiverArtsFest 2008 will be a 2 day celebration of the visual and performing arts with attractions and activities appropriate for all ages.  The event, which is free and open to the public (thanks to our many fine sponsors) is held in the heart of our redeveloped downtown area on Historic South Main.  This area is an ideal location as it is easily accessible and home to some of the city's finest galleries and restaurants with lots of free parking to be found.   (Handicap Parking Available)

The 2008 RiverArtsFestival features:

  •  A Juried Artist Market featuring 150+ gallery quality artist in an open air setting.

  • Live entertainment on five stages

  • Culinary delights from some of the local restaurants

  • Artists in Motion demonstrating new an innovative artistic techniques

  • Art du Jour is a hands on attraction for kids of all ages.

 

First Aid: A first aid station is located in front of the fire station at the corner of South Main and Butler.
 

Free Bike Parking: Racks available along South Main.
 

Beer and Wine will be served (to patrons 21yrs or older).   Soft drinks and water will be sold by vendors located throughout the festival area.

General Parking: Ample parking downtown with Trolley access to the festival.  For a small fee you may also park in the grounds adjacent to the farmers market pavilion.

Handicap Parking : Available in the lot off St. Paul behind the festival staging office.

Restrooms: Portable facilities are located as indicated on the festival map.

From Illinois: Take I-57 to Exit 30 at Anna/Jonesboro, follow Highway 146 to Route 3 south, turn left on Route3/Highway 146 and turn right on Highway 146 again to take the bridge over the Mississippi River. Follow 146 to the stop light at Sprigg Street and turn right. The Show Me Center is 2 miles down on the left side of the street.

From Kentucky: Take US 60 from Paducah to Cairo. Go through Cairo and pick up Illinois Route 3. Go north on Route 3 to Highway 146 bridge route over the Mississippi River. Follow 146 to the stop light at Sprigg Street and turn right. The Show Me Center is 2 miles down on the left side of the street.

From Missouri: Take I-55 north or south bound depending on your starting point. Take the second Cape Girardeau exit heading eastbound, which is William Street. Stay on William Street 4 miles until you come to the Sprigg Street intersection and turn left. The Show Me Center is 2 miles down on the left side of the street.
